- In English, you can say "[Subject] am/is/are [verbed]". In Bambara, you can do the "[Subject] am/is/are [verbed]" by adding -len or -nen to the end. :
- Gafè sannen. : The book is bought.
- Gafew kàlannen. : The books are read.
- Like before, if the last consonant of the verb ends with a nasal sound (m, n, ɲ), then add -nen or -nin. Else, use -len:
- Kàràmɔgɔ nin k’òlu ka sìgilen. : The teacher says they must be seated.
- In Jula, use -nin instead of -nen :
- Gafè sannin. : The book is bought.
- Gafew kàlannin. : The books are read.
- You can also use these endings to make a verb an ajective :
- [Sò lafiɲenen] ye gafè kàlan. : [The rested horse] read the book.
