- The imperative is very simple: Just use the verb as normal, and keep the noun in the same spot as before:
- Dɔ̀n! : Dance!
- À mǐn! : Drink it!
- To make an imperative negative, use kana .
- I kana à mǐn. : Don't drink it.
- If you drop the subject, it's implied you're talking to someone directly:
- Kana sìgi. : Don't sit.
- To multiple people, add ye in the positive, and just kana in the negative:
- Á ye dɔ̀n! : Dance (, you all)!
- Kana dɔ̀n! : Don't dance (, you all)!
- To express "let's (not)" or "should (not)" either in an imperative mood or a general encouragement, use ka in the positive sense and kana in the negative:
- An ka sìgi. : We should sit. / Let's sit.
- À kana sìgi. : She better not sit. / She shouldn't sit.
