Verbal Nouns

  - A verb on its own can also be a noun :

    - dɔ̀n : to dance, (the act of) dancing

    - sìgi : to sit, (the act of) sitting

    - kàlan : to study/read/learn, (the act of) studying/reading/dancing

  - At the same time, a verb can be made into a noun by adding a -ni/-li to the end:

    - If the last consonant of the verb ends with a nasal sound (m, n, ɲ), then add -ni :

      - kɔ̀nɔni : waiting

      - kàlanni : studying/reading/learning

    - Note: In the rule above, the letter/sound ŋ was not included.

    - If the last consanent is anything else, then add -li :

      - sìgili : sitting
